This poster is not linen backed. Until 1944, the mayhem of the war, and images of dead or wounded soldiers, were mostly toned down by American propagandists, who followed instructions to only show a few wounded soldiers in a crowded scene. Later towards the end of the war, more realistic representations were allowed, partly because American citizens asked for truthful, realistic information about what was happening overseas. The Office of War Information emphasized that images should show returning, battle-scarred soldiers rather than dead and wounded overseas. U.S. Navy Department- Industrial Incentive Division.
