Because Someone Talked portrays a cocker resting his head on his master's scarf. The gold star flag behind his head reveals his master has been killed in action. The flag was awarded to mother's who lost sons. During the war Gold Star llags and Red Star flags, indicating a serving son, were usually displayed in a hone's front window. The Service Flag hanging on the wall symbolizes the gravity of "loose talk". The single star on this flag indicates that the family has one member in the armed forces. Originally the star would have been blue, but it has been replaced with a gold star.
