The poster was one of a series produced by the Italian Tourist Bureau (ENIT) often in cooperation with the Italian State Railway System (FS). Tripoli is the capital and largest city of Libya, located in the northwestern part of the country. Tripoli was founded in the 7th century BC by the Phoenicians and the site of many archaeological ruins. As a result of the 1911-12 Turko-Italian War, Italy took control of the country.
