The ENIT Italian travel posters were printed in collaboration with the Ferrovie dello Stato (the Italian railway system). Today this is a rare and difficult to find as an original European vintage travel poster. Grassi plays a clever visual trick by allowing the image's border to form the window of a tower; from it, we can take in the peaceful countryside of Assisi, best known for the Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi. Assisi is a town and commune of Italy in the province of Perugia in the Umbria region. Possibly best known for The Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi (St. Francis). Travel poster shows Assisi and the Umbrian countryside as if from a window in a tower. Artist Vittorio Grassi provides the splendid image meant to entice tourist to travel to the Italian town of Assisi. The poster is one of a series produced by the Italian Tourist Bureau (ENIT) often in cooperation with the Italian State Railway System (FS), and is among the most collectible in the field of travel ephemera. Working at Banca d 'Italia, the artist developed an interest in printing methods and nurtured his passion for painting, in particular landscapes. He later co-founded the Architecture Department at the University of Rome. Grassi created drawings and illustration for prestigious architectural publications, as well as designing furniture, glasswork and ceramics. The artist became successful also a set designer. His interest in graphic design produced a series of posters and stamps for various public agencies, including ENIT and the Italian Railroad System. Excellent condition and ready to frame. .
