Additional Information: | Original Vintage French Travel Poster "LE HOHWALD" by ROGER BRODERS ca. 1930. Alsace and lorraine Railways. Size: 24.5" x 39.25". Archival linen backed antique skiing French vintage poster. Broders model for this ecstatic skier in Alsace was his wife, Marguerite-a native of the region, as it happened, and herself an artist and art teacher. It was through her, in fact, that Roger came to design for PLM, his single most important client: the couple was introduced to PLM's director by one of Marguerite's students at the Ecole du Louvre. The student happened to be the daughter of Gustave Eiffel, remembered as the builder of a certain Paris landmark. For this image Broders uses a portrait of his wife, Marguerite, as the central figure. Broders p. 15 and 45, Perry / Broders p. 77, Hillion p. 275, Skiing p. 60, Voyage p. 117. This Le Hohwald Champ du Feu Alsace is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed to preserve and protect the poster, and in excellent condition. |
